Team Recruitment Goals — Progress Report.

1 Leadership Training Handbook Overhaul

Previous goal: Revamp the Coach, Connect Leader and Team Leader training handbooks for the summer season — collaborate with Head Coaches and Location Pastors to integrate the Discipleship Pathway into each handbook, with printed copies ready for Summer Leader Training, then gather feedback and revise before finalising the Fall edition.

Progress to date — completed updates significant overhaul
  • Combined all leadership training into one comprehensive handbook.
  • Updated branding from C3 Toronto to C3 Assembly.
  • Added a Pastoral Care section outlining what to do during a crisis.
  • Added greater clarity around what it means to live life above reproach.
  • Clearly outlined expectations for each leadership role.
  • Reviewed feedback / content with Head Coaches and Location Pastors for consistency and alignment.

New goal

Complete the overhaul of the Head Coach, Coach, Connect Leader and Team Leader handbooks by:

  • Including more practical leadership examples throughout each section.
  • Adding any missing leadership resources.
  • Completing a final review with Head Coaches and Location Pastors.
  • Partnering with the Creative Team to finalise design and formatting.
  • Delivering a polished handbook ready for August Leader Training.
Content still to be added Fall version
  • Holistic Discipleship.
  • Discipleship Pathway overview.
  • Practical leadership tools:
    • Connect Chats.
    • Team health conversations.
    • Practical ways leaders can help their teams succeed.
  • Head Coach section.

2 Discipleship Pathway Comms Strategy & Skilled Team Recruitment

Previous goal: Build a repeatable communication system within the Discipleship Pathway that clearly communicates location-specific serving needs to Location Pastors, leaders and coaches each season — establish the framework this season with full implementation in the Fall.

Progress to date location dashboards

The Discipleship Pathway team has begun developing location-specific dashboards that display:

  • Team health.
  • Serving trends.
  • Volunteer numbers.
  • Recruitment needs.
  • Key ministry insights.

These dashboards will become the central communication tool for assessing team health across all locations, with the DP team owning all communication.

New goal

Use the Discipleship Pathway dashboards as the primary communication system to regularly provide Location Pastors with accurate, measurable information on:

  • Team health.
  • Serving engagement and rhythms.
  • Team gaps.
  • Recruitment priorities.
  • Growth trends.

Build a sustainable process for collecting, organising and communicating this information consistently across all locations.

Next steps what's moving now
  • Gather accurate serving needs from every department and location.
  • Identify the largest team gaps across the church.
  • Add these needs to the dashboard for ongoing tracking.
  • Partner with LPs, department heads, Jesse and Laura C to create a consistent reporting rhythm.
  • Develop a measurable system for tracking serving involvement across all departments.
  • Use the dashboard to monitor progress and recruitment efforts over time.
Current blocker: the biggest challenge is understanding our actual volunteer needs — especially within the Creative team — as we don't yet have clear data on how many people are actively serving.

Where We're Going

Two goals drive the season ahead: multiply the team and take new ground. Team recruitment is the overarching church goal — so it leads.

Multiplication Goal — Major Moves 4 priorities
  • Bring the Handbook to full completion — finish the Team Orientation handbook so every location runs off one standardised playbook. Major
  • Youth onboarding pathway. Partner with Ps Gerry, Maree & Sarah Hardy to build and document a clear, step-by-step pathway for getting youth onto team — drafted and in use by end of Q3. Sarah Hardy's plan ↗
  • Inroads Reporting upgrade. Track team onboarding vs Team Orientation attendance, closing the loop between recruited and activated.
  • Monthly team-needs comms. Work with Ps Vanessa on a comms strategy for specific team needs each month — surfaced at Team Orientation and in the monthly I,A,E comms.
Multiplication Goal — Minor Moves 3 items
  • Strengthen & align the Welcome Crew across all locations — working with Anton to bring Midtown in line with Downtown.
  • Follow-up plan for minor events — equip table hosts to help new people at Men's, HER, and Marketplace events.
  • Ownership Matrix — produce a clear matrix outlining what belongs to the Inroads team vs Location Pastors, so people run without checking in every time.
